When you look at bowling alley animations, there is a chance you get to see some sentient bowling pins. They can be expressive, they can have personality...
...But there's still some potential to these kind of characters that hasn't been fully realized by people.
Rarely has bowling pin or bowling ball characters been given deep character lore. Beyond being bowling pins or bowling balls, and one additional personality, it feels like... there's nothing left of them to care about. It doesn't help that bowling pin characters are usually just copies of each other.
This has to change. Bowling pins should not just be the same character in a different body. Poofesure raging over the 4th pin for refusing to fall over should be more than enough to proof that each bowling pin has their own personality.
Bowler Series is the result of Azure, the currently solo writer of this series, tackling multiple perspectives of bowling equipment to iterate on the idea of "What kind of society do those anthropomorphic bowling pins/balls live in?"
By embracing his desire to create a heartfelt story out of sentient bowling equipment and the people around them, the Bowler Series provides an unforseen twist to one of the most popular sports of all time and make it feel less like a game and more like an experience.
With heavy influence from not just other bowling pin characters Azure has seen, but also other animated works and webcomics, it’s no wonder why there are hundreds of bowling equipment characters in Azure's ever-expanding arsenal. Azure aims for the series and brand to be more of a fun and exciting experience for bowling enjoyers and people who never played bowling before, alike!
